Twister!

I had my closest shave ever with a tornado yesterday and I almost didn’t know about it.

Most of you will have read that a couple of tornadoes touched down in Dallas yesterday. In fact loads of damage was done just 20 miles from here, in Arlington.  The video of truck trailers, being thrown in the air like toys, in Lancaster Texas is pretty scary stuff!

Weirdly it was probably the least windy day in my four weeks here.  Because of Hollywood, Twister!, I thought it was meant to be blowing a gale to get tornadoes!  Now it rained like there was no tomorrow but I found out about the danger because of some friends posting on Facebook.

When I turned on the local news there was real panic. DFW airport was shut down, people were taking cover under the stairs and in bathrooms.

My friends’ pets, 4 dogs and 4 cats, knew something was up, they started getting really cozy.

All was Ok in the end but that’s tornadoes and eartquakes ticked off my bucket list then.
